Welcome sign.

Do you like to have a "Welcome" sign on
your page? This is a suggestion for you.
I have made Selections and you can get them here and zip them up in your PSP
Selcections folder.
I have also included fillings to the shirt, hat and sign in bmp format. Zip them up into your patterns
folder.
You will also have my hair tube. Zip it up into your PSP Tubes folder.
The text "Welcome" is also included in English, German, French,
Spanish,
Swedish and Norwegian
in PSP format.
If you like any other language, please let me know.
Save them into your Image folder.
Start with a New Image 500 x 400, transp, 16 mill.
New Layer. Call it Band1. Selections, Load from disk,
welcome1, band1.sel.
Flood Fill with color #F99C69. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Hands. Selections, Load from disk,
hands.sel.
Flood Fill with color #F3D0B9. Selections, Float.
Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Shirt. Selections, Load from disk,
shirt.sel.
Flood Fill with the green checked pattern you got in the zip. Set the angle to
45.
Keep it selected. New Layer. Airbrush2. Make some lines for the shadow like
this.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur9. Deselect.
Close Layers Band1 and Hands. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Shirt.
Keep it still selected. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Dress. Selections, Load from disk,
dress.sel.
Flood Fill with color #537277. Keep it selected. New Layer. Airbrush2, color
#344E52.
Make some shadowlines like this.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur8. Close Layers,
Band1, Hands, Shirt.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Dress. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Head. Selections, Load from disk,
head.sel.
Flood Fill with color #F3D0B9. Keep it selected. Selections, Float.
Effects, 3D, Cutout as before, but change color to #BB8F6F. Keep it selected.
New Layer. Put some pink color on the cheeks. I used color #FA9F96.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur7. Deselect.
Close all layers except this layer and Layer Head.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Head. On the same layer,
do some highlighting. Use Airbrush3, white color. Lower the Opacity to 40.
Make two dots on the upper part of the cheeks.

New Layer. Call it Hattop. Selections, Load from disk,
hattop.sel.
Flood Fill with color #7E5051. Keep it selected. Selections, Float.
Effects, 3D, Cutout as before, but change color to #5E3632. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Hatfront. Selections, Load from disk,
hatfront.sel.
Flood Fill with the wine-red pattern you got in the zip . Keep it selected. Selections, Float.
Effects, 3D, Cutout as before, but change Blur to 45. Deselect.
Close all Layers except this layer and
Layer Hattop.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Hat.
Stand on Layer Head. New Layer. Call it Hair.
Use your haircurl tube set at different sizes and make some curls like this.

Duplicate this layer. Image, Mirror and put
it in place with the Mover.
On the same layer, make some curls on the forehead.
Colors, Adjust, Red/Green/Blue as below.

You can try different settings, if you like
another color of your hair.
Stand on Layer Hair and do the same coloring.
Close all Layers except those two hairlayers.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Hair.

Now to the eyes and mouth.
New Layer. Call it Eye. Preset Shapes, Ellipse, Black color on both Fore-and
Background.
Make a circle 5 x 5. Airbrush2, white color. Opacity 40.
Make a highlight on the upper left part od the eye.

Duplicate and put the eyes in place.
New Layer. Call it Mouth. Preset Shapes,
Ellipse, color #F78E83. Turn off Background.
Make an ellipse 14 x 11. Freehand Tool, Antialias checked, Point-to-Point.
Mark what you will delete.

Delete. Put the mouth in place.
Close all layers except the two Eyes and Mouth layers. Layers, Merge, Merge
Visible. Call it Face.
This is what you will have now.

Now to the sign.
Stand on Layer Band1. New Layer. Call it
Sign. Selections, Load from disk,
sign.sel.
Flood Fill with black color. Selections, Modify, Contract 2. Fill with graywood
pattern.
Keep it selected. Selections, Float. Cutout as below.

Deselect.
Open the Image with the text. Choose the
text you want.
Copy it and Paste it as a New Layer on your sign. Call it Text.
Place it with your Mover in the middle of the sign.

New Layer. Call it Band2. Selections, Load from disk,
band2.sel.
Flood Fill with color #F99C69. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Bow. The same yellow color. Draw Tool. Close Background color.

Now you have to make three clicks to make a
nice bow.
Click where I have marked. First click at 1, then at 2 and 3.
There you have your bow.

Use Deformation Tool to turn the bow to your liking. Place it on top of the band.
Duplicate, Image, Mirror. Put the other bow
on top of the same band.
New Layer. Make the ends of the band with Draw, Freehand Line6.

Close all layers except this layer and the
two bows layers.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Bow.
Duplicate, Image, Mirror and put it on the other band on the other hand.
Stand on Layer Dress. New VECTOR Layer. Call it Heart. Preset Shapes, Heart.

Color #9D6566 on both Fore- and Background. Make the heart 40 x 35.
Click on Object Selector. In your Tool Option Palette,
click Properties.
Click on Stroke and change color to #C6A2A3.
Change Stroke width to 4. Change Line style to Dot.

OK. Left click somewhere in your picture. Now
you have a nice edging around the heart.
In your Layer Palette, Convert to Raster Layer.
Right Click in your Palette again and rename the layer to Heart.
I want something on the hat also.
You can add just anything. Use your imagination and come up with something nice.

I did like this. New Layer. Preset Shape, Flower. Color #C1A7A8 on both Fore-
and Background.
Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the flower. Click inside. Effects, 3D,
Cutout as below.

Effects, 3D, Drop Shadow as below.

New Layer. Preset Shape, Ellipse. Color
#9D6566 on both Fore- and Background.
Make a circle 10 x 10. Put it in the middle of the flower. Drop Shadow as before.
Layers, View, All.
Now, have a look at your picture. If there are somethings you like to change, do
so now.
When you are satisfied with the picture.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible and you are
done.

As a little curiosity, I would like to show
you the sign I made from this tutorial.
It is all handmade in wood by me. I just love woodworking.
