Small Poinsettia.

This is a Vector tutorial, but an easy one,
I think.
The zip includes my goldpattern. Get it here
and zip it up in your PSP Patterns Folder.
You will also need filter Eye Candy.
Start with a New Image 200 x 250, transp,
16 mill.
We make the petals the same way, all of them.
You will just change the colors and do some Node Editing.
New Vector
Layer. Call it Petal1.
Antialias checked.
Preset Shapes,
Teardrop, create as Vector.
Foreground, use the goldpattern you got in the zip.

Background color #88302F.
Make the petal 44 x 50. Object Selector, Node Edit. Left click on the top node.
Pull the handles a bit. Look at the picture below.

Right click and Quit node editing. Left
click in the picture.
That was Petal one. Duplicate this layer and call it Petal2.
Object Selector. Node Edit. Left click on the top node.
Pull the handles
just a little.
I don't want this petal to look excactly like Petal1.
Click on Petal1. Put your cursor over the center. Turn it when you can see the
arrow.

Left click. Do the same with Petal2. Place them like I did. You can always rearrange them later.

Stand on Layer Petal1. Duplicate. Call it
Petal3. Object
Selector. Node Edit.
Pull the top node in a different way again. You can also pull or drag the bottom
nodes a bit.
Right click. Quit Node Editing. View Properties.

Click on Fill.

Change the color to #E42708. OK. Left click. Turn it and place the petal like this.

Now you know the procedure. Keep on
duplicating Layer Petal1
and change the top node and colors like we just did.
Se below the colors of the petals.
Petal 1 and 2 color #88302F.
Petal 3 color
#E42708.
Petal 4 color #9E4306. Push the petal together a
bit to make it a little smaller.
Petal 5 color #D44202.
Petal 6 color #7C0906.
Petal 7 color #7C0906.
Petal 8 color #7C0906.
Petal 9 color #9E4306.
Petal 10 color #CF172D. Push the petal together a
bit to make it a little smaller.
Petal 11 color #C61F04.
Petal 12 color #CF172D. Push the petal together quite a
bit to make it a much smaller.
Petal 13 color #B42634. Make this petal just as small as petal 12.
Petal 14 color #C61F04. Make this petal just as small as petal 12.
I will show you here the places for all the
petals.

That was so far. Now it is time to look
through all the petals and change them if you like.

When you are satisfied, we will go on.
Stand on Layer Petal1.
Right click on the layer in your Layer Palette. Convert to Raster
Layer.
Selections, Select all. Selections, Float. Keep it selected.
New Layer. Airbrush1, black color. Make some shadow like this.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur3. Retouch Tool, Smudge as below.

Smudge the shadow like this, with fine strokes.

Deselect.
Close all other layers except this shadowlayer and Layer Petal1.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Petal1.
Now you have to do the same on all petals.
Just keep the shadowlayer and the petal layer open when you Merge Visible.
On petals 1 + 2 + 6 + 7 + 8 I used color black on the shadows.
On petals 4 + 9 I used color #542303 on the shadows.
On petals 3 + 5 + 10 + 11 + 12 + 13 + 14 I used color #8E1C03 on the shadows.
If you like, you can always add some more shadowcolor and take some more smudging.
Go through your picture now to see if you want to change something.
This is how my flower looks now.

Stand on Layer Petal 14.
New Raster Layer.
Antialias checked. Foreground color #A09A4A and Background #C6C96F color.

Now you can bend and drag the
handles like I did.
When you are satisfied, right click, Quit Node Editing. Left click in your
picture.

Right click in your Layer Palette. Convert to Raster Layer.
New Raster Layer. Airbrush2, color #4DA60C. Make some veins on freehand.
New Raster Layer. Airbrush1. Make some thinner veins also.

Place them like I did.

Now to the band.
New Raster Layer. Call it Loop. Draw, Bezier Curve, width 4. Antialias.
Black color on Foreground. Background closed.
Make just three clicks and you will have a loop. Click where I have marked.
The first loop has to be a long and narrow one.

Duplicate the layer. Drag those two layers
to the bottom in your Layer Palette.
Place the second loop a little higher than the first one.

New Layer. The same settings. Now we are
going to make a small loop.
Make it shorter and wider this time.

Duplicate. Image, Mirror. Place the two loops together to a bow. Put them under the flower.

Close Layer Flower. Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Bow.

Drag this layer under Layer Hanger in your Layer Palette.
Close Layer Flower and Bow. Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Hanger.
New Raster Layer. Call it Ball. Preset
Shapes, Ellipse. Color #CCA15E.
Make the ball 23 x 23. Filter Eye Candy, Chrome, Liquid Metal as below.

Colors, Colorize, Hue = 25, Saturation = 155.
Drag this layer under Layer Hanger in your
Layer Palette.
Place the ball just under the hanger. Close layers Flower and Bow.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Ball.
Duplicate the ball and put the balls at the ends of the bands of the bow.
Stand on Layer Ball. We will delete the
part shown on the picture just to make it look like
it's really hanging on that band. You can use Freehand Tool and Delete or just
the Eraser.

Do the same with the other ball.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible and that was it.
