In this tutorial you vill use some Vectors.
Start with a New Image 200 x 250, transparent.
New Layer. Call it Body. Preset Shapes,
teardrop, red color
on both Fore- and Background. Antialias checked.
Make a drop 115 x 150. Selection Tool. Make
a Rectangle around the body.
Click inside it.
Effects, Cutout.
New Vector Layer. Call it Head. Preset Shapes,
teardrop, red color
on both Fore- and Background. Antialias checked. Create as vectors checked.
Make a drop 100 x 135. Object selector.
Node edit. Keep Ctrl down and add one node at the arrow.
Push it a little inwards, like I did.
Right click in your picture and Quit Node Editing. Left click in your picture.
Right click in your Layers Palette and
Convert to Raster Layer.
Selection Tool. Make a Rectangle around the
head. Click inside it.
Effects, Cutout as before. Deselect.
Selection Tool. Make a Rectangle around the
head. Click inside it.
Leave the "ants" dancing.
New Layer. Airbrush3. Dark red color. Make some shade on the head.
Blur, Gaussian Blur 6. Deselect. Merge Visible. Call the Layer Body.
New Layer. Call it Face.
Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Color #F7C6AB on both Fore- and Background.
Make the circle 70 x 70. Keep Shift down while you drag.
Selection Tool. Make a Rectangle around the
head. Click inside it.
Effects, Cutout. Make the same settings, but use Shadow color #CB8D5F. Deselect.
Selection Tool. Make a Rectangle around the
head. Click inside it. Keep the "ants" dancing.
New Layer. Airbrush 3. Make some red on Santas cheeks.
Blur, Gaussian Blur 10. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Eyes. Preset Shapes,
Ellipse. Black color on both Fore- and Background.
Make the circle 7 x 7. Effects, Inner Bevel, Round. Duplicate and put the eyes
in place.
New Layer. Call it Nose. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Color #D19A71. Make the oval 8 x 6.
New Layer. Call it Mouth. Preset Shapes,
Crescent. Color #F78E83. Make the oval 10 x 7.
Image, Rotate 90º left. Put the mouth in place.
New Layer. Call it Hair. Get my hair tube, size 50. Put some hair around the face.
Merge Visible.
New Layer. Call it Scarf. Draw, Freehand
Line 15. Foreground, Pattern.
Close Background. Choose a Pattern you like to the scarf.
Make a line under Santas chin and make two lines down. Like this.
New Layer. Call it Button. White color on
both Fore- and Background. Preset Shapes, Ellipse.
Make a circle 10 x 10. Put the button in place. Effects, Inner Bevel, Round. Put
the depth on 2.
Duplicate and put the other button in place.
Merge Visible and you are done!
