Santa rides on a star.

Want to come along for a ride on the Christmas tree
with this little pipecleaner Santa?

Get my selections here and zip them up in your PSP Selections folder.
The zip also includes the face, branch and a wood pattern. Unzip the face and
branch in your PSP Image folder and the pattern in your PSP Patterns folder.

Start with a New Image, 300 x 300, transp, 16 mill.
New Layer. Get the branch you got in the zip. Copy and Paste it as a New Layer.
Duplicate this layer several times. Use Deformation tool to turn the pieces.
When you have turned the branches you also have to take Effects, Sharpen.
I put my branches like this.

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call the layer Branches.

New Layer. Call it Pipecleaner1. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, pipecleaner1.sel. Flood Fill with black color. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Foot1. Preset Shapes, Sphere as below.

Make the foot 26 x 26. To make the ball round, keep Shift down
while you drag. Place the foot on top of the pipecleaner, like this.

Retouch tool, Smudge. Settings like this.

Smudge the bright spot a little, to make it shine not so bright.

New Layer. Call it Pipecleaner2. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, pipecleaner2.sel. Flood Fill with black color. Deselect.

Close Layer Branch. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible Call the layer Leg1.

New Layer. Call it Edges1. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, edges1.sel. Flood Fill with color #9A7534. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Starburst. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, starburst.sel. Set your Styles to Pattern.

Look for the pattern lo-wood, you got in the zip.
Make the settings like this.

Flood Fill. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout like this.

Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Edges2. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, edges2.sel. Flood Fill with color #C19441. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Edge. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, edge.sel. Flood Fill with color #785A2C. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Star. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, star.sel. Flood Fill with pattern, the same as on Starburst,
but set Angle to 322. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as before. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Ring. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, ring.sel. Flood Fill with color #F2C44A.
Effects, Texture, Sculpture, like this.

 Deselect.

This is what you will have now.

Close Layers Branches and Leg1.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call the layer Star.

New Layer. Call it Head. Preset Shapes, Button27 as below.

Make the head 45 x 45. Colors, Adjust, Brightness/Contrast.
Set Brightness to 30, Contrast 0. Place the head like this.

New Layer. Call it Cap. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, cap.sel. Flood Fill with color #DD2001.
Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Keep it selected. New Layer. Airbrush3, color  #4C1C14.
Make some shadow lines like this.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur 7. Deselect.

Close all other layers except these two cap layers.
Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Cap.

Get the face you got in the zip. Copy and Paste it as a New Layer.
Place the face on the head.

New Layer. Call it Hair. Draw, Freehand Line as below.

Background color closed. Make some hair on santa.

Adjust the face and hair with your Mover.

New Layer. Call it Body. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, body.sel. Flood Fill with color #B10C28.
 Selections, Float. Effects, Cutout as below.

Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Scarf1. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, scarf1.sel. Flood Fill with color #314D09.
 Selections, Float. Effects, Cutout as below.

Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Scarf2. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, scarf2.sel. Flood Fill with color #406A0A.
 Selections, Float. Effects, Cutout as before, but set Opacity to 51. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Pipecleaner3. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, pipecleaner3.sel. Flood Fill with black color. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Foot2. Preset Shapes, Sphere as before.
Make the foot 26 x 26. Place the foot on top of the pipecleaner.
Retouch tool, Smudge. Settings as before.

New Layer. Call it Pipecleaner4. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, pipecleaner4.sel. Flood Fill with black color. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Hand. Preset Shapes, Sphere as before.
Make the hand 20 x 20. Place the hand on top of the pipecleaner.

New Layer. Call it Pipecleaner5. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, pipecleaner5.sel. Flood Fill with black color. Deselect.

New Layer. Call it Cape. Selections, Load from disk,
santaridesastar, cape.sel. Flood Fill with color #DD2001.
 Selections, Float. Effects, Cutout as below.

 Keep it selected. New Layer. Airbrush2, color #4C1C14.
Make some shadow lines on the cape, like this.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur 7. Deselect.

Have a look at your picture. If you want to change anything, do so now.
When you are satisfied with what you see, close layers Branch, Leg1 and Star.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call the layer Santa.

Get the branch again. Copy and Paste one branch. Place it just on top of the ring,
just to cover it a bit.

Now you are done with your picture.
