Pumpkin.

This is a Vector tutorial and it is an easy one, I think. So don't hesitate to try it.
Start with a New Image 400 x 400, transp,
16 mill.
New Vector Layer. Call it Part1. Preset Shapes as below.

Foreground color #D97727 and Background color #FB8525.
Make an ellipse 55 x 165. Object Selector,
Node Edit.

Drag the top and bottom nodes to your right
a bit. Rigth click on the top node,
Node Type, Cusp.

Drag the marked handle to your left and
upwards a bit.
Click on the bottom node and drag to your left and down a bit.
Right click in your picture and Quit Node Editing. Left click.
Duplicate, Image, Mirror and put the parts together.
If they don't fit exactly to eachother, do
the same procedure
and drag the nodes a little more against eachother.

Stand on Layer Part1. New
Vector Layer. Call it
Part3.
Make an ellipse the same size, 55 x 165. Put it on the leftside of the pumpkin.

Do the same here. Object Selector, Node
Edit.
Drag the top and bottom nodes to your right a little bit more than the previous
parts.
Right click on the top node, Node Type, Cusp.
Drag the marked handle to your left and upwards a
bit.
Right click on the bottom node, Node Type, Cusp.
Drag the marked handle to your left and downwards
a bit.
Right click in your picture and Quit Node Editing. Left click.
Duplicate, Image, Mirror
and put this part on the right hand side of the pumpkin.
Make sure this layer is at the bottom in your Layers Palette. If not, drag it
there.
Now you have all four pumpkin-parts and
you can drag and push the handles to your liking.
Remember, one pumpkin is not excactly like another one. They can be tall and
slim
or short and chubby. I'm sure your pumpkin will look just great anyway you make
it.
My pumpkin looks like this now.

When You are satisfied with the looks, go
to your Layers Palette
and right click on every Vector layer and Convert to Raster layer.

Make the climbers like this.

Close layer Pumpkin. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Stalk.
Now I suggerst, that you make some copies
of Layer Pumpkin.
Use Deformation Tool and push and drag the pumpkin in different ways.
That way you will have lots of different pumpkins to use in your graphics.
Then you can use the same stalk to every pumpkin.
Make a New Image, Copy and Paste the
separate parts into it.
If you want a face to your pumpkin, draw that on a separate layer.
That was all folks.
