A small pixel-dragonfly for you.

Start with a New Image, 110 x 80, transp, 16 mill.

I have used these colors. Right click and save to your Image Folder.
Put this picture up on your workspace. Use the Dropper and get the color you want.

New Layer.  Call it Wing. Zoom your Image to 9 x 1. Use the same colors like I did.
Airbrush1. Shape: square. Let's start with half the wing.

When you are done with the outlines use Magic Wand.
Click inside the upper wing. Flood fill with white color.
Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Deselect.

Magic Wand. Click inside the lower wing. Make sure everything is selected.
Flood fill with white color. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as before. Deselect.

Duplicate this layer in your Layers Palette. Image, Mirror. Now you have two wing-pairs.
We are going to put them together after we have made the body.

As your work proceedes, you might discover that your canvas is to small. Maybee you have started
too far aside. It is easy to correct. Go to Image, Canvas size and increase it.

New Layer. Call it Body.

Magic Wand. Click inside the body. Make sure everything is selected.
Flood fill with color #CCCCFF. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

 Deselect.

Now we have to put the parts together. Put them like this.

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible and you are done.

You can now colorize the dragonflies to give them other colours.

You can also use them in your sig-tags if you like.
