Pink bird.

For this tutorial I have used Preset Shapes,
Ellipse, Diamond1, Moon2, Teardrop, Arrow31.
You will also need my own Preset Shapes, Tassle and Birdsfoot.
Get the them here and zip them up in your PSP, Shapes folder.
New Image 300 x 300 transp. New Layer, call
it Head. Fore- and Background color #C53F72.
Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Antialias checked. Make a circle 60 x 60.
Keep Shift down while you drag, that will make the circle round.

Duplicate twice and place the circles like this.

Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call the layer Head.
New Layer. Call it Body. Preset Shapes, Ellipse, Make it 110 x 125.

New Layer. Call it Wing1. Fore- and
Background color #E49CB7.
Preset Shapes, Drop. Make it 65 x 120. Deformation Tool. Turn the wing to the
left. Apply.

Duplicate the wing layer. Call it Wing2.
Image, Mirror. Put it in place on the birds right side.
Drag the layer, in your Layers Palette, under Layer Body.

New Layer. Call it Tail. Preset Shapes,
Ellipse. Make the part 105 x 25.
New Layer, Preset Shapes, Moon2. Fore- and Background, color #C53F72. Make the
part 85
x 15.
Put that part on top of the tail. Close Layers, Head, Wings, and Body.
Layers,
Merge, Merge Visible to the rest. Duplicate that layer two times. Deformation
Tool.
Turn the tail layers and put them together like this.

Keep Layers,
Head, Wings, and Body closed. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible to the rest. Call it Tail.
Put the tail feathers in place on the body. In your Layers Palette, drag layer
Tail, to the bottom.
Stand on Layer Wing1. New Layer. Fore- and Background color
#C53F72.
Preset Shapes. Moon 2. Make the part 50 x 15.
Deformation Tool. Turn the piece and put it in place on Wing1.
Duplicate three times = four feathers. Put them in place like this.

Close all other Layers, except those four
layers. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Feathers.
Duplicate this layer, Image, Mirror and put it on top of Wing2.
Close all other Layers, except this layer and Layer Wing2. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Wing2.
Stand on Layer Wing1.
Make Layer Feather visible also.
New Layer. Fore- and Background color #C53F72.
Preset Shapes. Moon 2. Make it 60 x 25.
Deformation Tool. Turn the feather and put it in place on the left wing.
Duplicate two times = three feathers.
Put them in place like this. If some parts stick outside the wing, use the
Eraser.

Close all other Layers, except those three
layers, Feathers and Wing1.
Layers. Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Wing1.
Drag the layers in your Layers Palette like this.

This is what you will have now.

Stand on layer Head. New Layer. Call it
Hair. Preset Shapes, Tassel.
Fore- and Background color #C53F72. Make it 49 x
50. Put it on top of the head.

Close all layers except Layer Head and Layer Hair. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call ot Head.
Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the
head. Click inside.
New Layer. Keep it still selected.
Airbrush, size 2 color #E9B5C9.

Make some color like I did. Effects, Blur,
Gaussian Blur9. Deselect.
Close all layers except this layer and Layer Head. Layers, Merge. Merge Visible. Call it
Head.
Stand on Layer Body. Selection Tool. Make a
rectangle around the body.
Click inside.
New Layer. Keep it still selected.
Airbrush, size 5 color #E9B5C9. Make some paintings like I did.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur9. Deselect. Close all
layers except this layer
and Layer Body. Merge. Merge Visible. Call it Body.
While the body is still selected, you might use some Smudge also. To make it
even softer.

Deselect.
Stand on Layer Wing1.
Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the wing. Click
inside.
New Layer. Keep it still selected.
Airbrush, size 2 color #FCF4F7. Make some paint on each feather like I did.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur6. Deselect.
Stand on Layer Wing2. Selection Tool. Make
a rectangle around the wing.
Click inside. New Layer. Keep it still selected. Airbrush, size 2 color #FCF4F7.
Make some color on each feather.
Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur6. Deselect.
Stand on Layer Tail. Selection Tool. Make a
rectangle around the tail.
Click inside.
New Layer. Keep it still selected.
Airbrush, size 2 color #FCF4F7.
Make some color on each feather.
Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur6. Deselect.
Keep all layers visible. Layers Merge, Merge Visible to all. Call it Bird.
Now to the eyes.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Black
color on both Fore- and Background. Make the circle 9 x 9.
Put it in place on the face. Effects, inner Bevel Round. Duplicate and put the
other eye in place.
Beak.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, Diamond1. Color #
C36E1B on both Fore- and Background.
Make the part 30 x 20. Draw lines like the picture with color #C36E1B.
Flood Fill the left part with a slightly darker color. I used #866844. Tolerance 11, Opacity 50.

Retouch Tool, Soften, size 1. Soften the lines a bit.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Color
#8F5B05. Fill color closed.
Make a circle that goes from one end of the mouth to the other end.

Freehand Tool. Mark like I did above.
Delete. Deselect.
Drag that layer under the beak layer.
Eyebrows.
New layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Retain style checked. Make a small ellipse.

Selection Tool. Rectangle. Mark the lower
part. Delete. Deselect.
Duplicate the eyebrow and put the both brows in place.

This is how the face will look now.
Make all layers Visible. Layers, Merge, merge Visible. Call it Bird.
Foot.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, Birdfoot. Color
#C68426 on both Fore- and Background.
Make the part 55 x 20. Duplicate. Drag the feet layers under Bird Layer in your
Layers Palette.
Deformation Tool.
Turn the feet like this.

Stand on Layer Bird. Selection Tool,
Rectangle. Make a rectangle around the bird. Click inside.
New Layer. Airbrush 8. Color #FDF7F9. Make one dot at each corner of the mouth.
Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur7. Deselect.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible to all layers
and you are done.
The birds below is made the same way, but with different colors.
You can also put him in a different position by turning the parts like this.
If you like you can also use Colorize.
