Hibiscus

Make sure you save often.

For this tutorial I have used my own-made Shape.
Get it here. You have to put it in your PSP-Shapes folder.

New Image 300 x 300, transparent. New Layer. Foreground #DA2B5F. Background #E33B20.
Preset Shapes, lohibiscus. Make the flower about 190 x 200.

Fill the different petals with red color in several shades. Darker shades at the back and lighter in front.

Retouch Tool, Smudge.

Make the lines go from the outer parts inwards. Always towards the centre.
Blend the different colors well.

My flower looks like this now.

Freehand Tool. Mark several areas in the flowers centre.
Keep Shift down while marking. Make sure all lines go towards the centre.

Fill those marks with a bright red color. Deselect. Smudge a little again.
 

New Layer. Selection Tool, Freehand. Make some marks like I did.
KeepShift down while you make the marks.

Fill with a light red color. Deselect. Smudge again.

Layers, Merge Visible.

Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the flower. Click inside it. Leave it selected.
New Layer. Dark red color. Make some marks with Airbrush 8 in the centre.
Gaussian Blur12. Deselect.

Merge Visible.

Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the flower. Click inside it. Leave it selected.
New Layer. Dark red color. Make some marks with Airbrush 6 in the centre. Gaussian Blur 5.

Deselect. Merge Visible.

New Layer. Selection Tool, Freehand. Make some marks like I did.
KeepShift down while you make the marks.

Paint with a slightly cerise color. Airbrush12. Deselect. Merge Visible.

Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the flower. Click inside it. Leave it selected.
New Layer. Black color. Make a few marks with Airbrush 4 in the centre. Gaussian Blur 5.
Deselect. Merge Visible.

New Layer. Draw, Freehand line 12, Solid line. Slightly dark red color on Foreground.
Background closed. Make a line from the centre like I did.

At the ends of the pistil you have to erase a little, to make it a little rounder.

Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the pistil. Click inside it. Leave it selected.
Effects, Cutout.


 

Deselect. Merge Visible

New Layer. Yellow color. Airbrush 1. You can use Airbrush 2 now and then also.
Make little dots at the top of the pistil.

Merge Visible. Effects, Sharpen once and you are done.

It will look nice, if you put the hibiscus flower together with some leaves.

Do you like to make a leaf also?

New Image 300 x 300, transparent.

New Vector Layer. Call it Leaf.  Preset Shapes, leaf. Create as vectors checked.
Green color on both Fore- and Background.

Object Selector, Node Edit. Rearrange the nodes like I did.

Right click outside of the leaf. Quite Node Editing. Left click in your picture.
Right click in your Layers Palette. Convert to Raster Layer.

New Layer. Make some veins with a darker green color.
Close Background. Use Draw, Freehand Line 2.

Close this layer.

New Layer. Airbrush 3. The same dark green color.
Make some shadows on the leaf. Like this.

Stand on Layer Leaf. Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the leaf. Click inside it.
Go back to previous Layer. Keep the "ants" dancing. Blur, Gaussian Blur 4.
Deselect. Open the closed Layer and put it on top. Merge Visible.

Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the leaf. Click inside it. Effects, Cutout.

Deselect.

Your leaf is finished.
