For this tutorial, you will need my
Selections.
Get them here. Zip them up in your PSP, Selections folder.
Save often!
New Image 400 x 400, transparent.
New Layer. Selections, Load from Disk,
ear2.sel.
Fill it with color #FAE1D4. Call the Layer Ear2.
New Layer. Selection Load from Disk, face.sel. Fill it with color #FAE1D4. Call the Layer Face.
New Layer. Selection Load from Disk, hair.sel. Fill it with white color. Call the Layer Hair.
New Layer. Selection Load from Disk, cap.sel. Fill it with red color. Call the Layer Cap.
New Layer. Call it Ball. Preset Shapes,
Ellipse.
Make a circle 35 x 35. Both Back- and Foreground, red color.
Keep Shift down while you drag. Put the ball at the end of the cap.
New Layer. Selection Load from Disk, ear1.sel. Fill it with color #FAE1D4. Call the Layer Ear1.
New Layer. Call it Hair2. Draw, Single Line 8, white color. Make a line vertically, as on the picture.
Effects, Geometric, Wave
That will make a little curl on the hair. If you like, you can use some Smudge on the hair also.
New Layer. Selection Load from Disk, eyes.sel. Fill it with white color. Call the Layer Eyes1.
New Layer. Call it Eyes2. Preset Shapes,
Ellipse, black color on both Fore- and Background.
Make a Circle 11 x 11. Effects, Inner Bevel, Round.
Duplicate that Layer and put the eye in place.
New Layer. Call it Nose. Selection Load from Disk, nose.sel. Fill it with color #F4BB9C.
New Layer. Call it Mouth. Selection Load
from Disk, mouth.sel. Fill the gap with black color
and the toung with color #E8C5AC.
New Layer. Call it Eyebrows. Selection Load
from Disk, eyebrows.sel. Fill it with color # E8C5AC.
Drag that Layer under Hair1 Layer.
Now we will do some shading.
Stand on Cap Layer. Close all other Layers.
New Layer. Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the cap. Click inside it.
Effects, Cutout with following settings. Deselect.
Stand on Ball Layer. Take the same Cutout as above.
Close all Layers but Cap and Ball. Merge Visible. Call it Cap.
Stand on Layer Ear1. Make the Cutout With the same settings as before, but use color #D48952. Deselect.
Stand on Layer Ear2. Make the Cutout as before, but use color #D48952. Deselect.
Stand on Layer Face. Make a rectangle with
Selection Tool. Click inside it.
New Layer. Make two red spots on each cheek.
Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur 9. Deselect.
Layers, View all. Merge Visible. Call it Head.
New Layer. Call it Foot1.
Selection Load from Disk, Foot1.sel. Fill it with color # E52C01.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Cap, but use color #850505.
New Layer. Call it Foot2.
Selection Load from Disk, Foot2.sel. Fill it with color # FF2419.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Cap, but use color #850505.
New Layer. Call it Collar.
Selection Load from Disk, Collar.sel. Fill it with color or pattern of your
choise.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Cap, but use color #037103.
New Layer. Call it Hand1.
Selection Load from Disk, Hand1.sel. Fill it with color #FAE1D4. Deselect.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Cap.
New Layer. Call it Band.
Selection Load from Disk, Band.sel. Fill it with color #170BBB. Deselect.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Cap. Color: Black.
New Layer. Call it Sleeve.
Selection Load from Disk, Sleeve.sel. Fill it with the same color or pattern
as you did on Collar . Deselect.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Cap, but use color #037103.
New Layer. Call it Heartrim.
Selection Load from Disk, Heartrim.sel. Fill it with color #Black. Use
Airbrush12. Deselect.
Fill the interior with white color.
New Layer. Call it Heart.
Selection Load from Disk, Heart.sel. Fill it with color #170BBB. Deselect.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Band. Color: Black.
Your picture looks like this now.
New Layer. Call it Hand2.
Selection Load from Disk, Hand2.sel. Fill it with color #FAE1D4. Deselect.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Hand1.
New Layer. Call it Arm.
Selection Load from Disk, Arm.sel. Fill it with the same color or pattern as on
Collar. Deselect.
Make the Cutout, the same as you did with Layer Cap, but use color #037103.
Now you are done!
If you like to have a branch to hang the heart on, you can do as I did.
New Image 200 x 60, transparent.
Green color. Draw, Singel Line 7. Antialias
checked.
Effects, Inner Bevel, Pillow.
Make some lines along the stem.
Duplicate, Effects, Inner Bevel, Pillow, only on the upper Layer. Merge Visible.
