Little chicken.


For Easter you might need some chickens.
You can make them like I did.

Start with a New Image, 100 x 150, transp, 16 mill. Flood fill with a dark color.
Just to be able to see better what you are doing.

We will start with the body.
New Layer. Fore- and Background color #F0D663.
Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Antialias checked. Make a vertical ellipse 25 x 45.   Rotate right 20.
Duplicate this layer in your Layer palette. Image, Rotate right 20. Place the parts like this.

New Layer. The same settings. Make a new vertical ellipse 16 x 24. Image, Rotate, Left 60.
Put the parts together like this.

New Layer. The same settings. Make a new vertical ellipse 11 x 15. Image, Rotate, Left 20.
Put the parts together like this.

New Layer. The same settings. Make a new vertical ellipse 13 x 16. Image, Rotate, Left 30.
Put the parts together like this.

Duplicate this layer. Image, Rotate, Right 25.
Put the parts together like this.

New Layer. The same settings. Make a new vertical ellipse 3 x 8. Image, Rotate, Left 30.
Duplicate this layer two times. On the first one you take: Image, Rotate, Left 40
and on the second one take: Image, Rotate, Right 40. Put those three parts like I did.

Close your Background. Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Body.

Now to the head.

New Layer. The same settings as before. Make a circle 33 x 33.
New Layer.
Make a new vertical ellipse 18 x 27. Image, Rotate, Right 50. Place it like this.

Duplicate this layer. Image, Flip. Image, Mirror. Place the part like this.

New layer. Make a new vertical ellipse 9 x 15. Image, Rotate, Right 60. Place it like this.

Close layers Background and Body. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Head.
Place the head on the body like this.

Stand on Layer Head. Retouch Tool, Smudge as below.

Make some hair with tiny strokes on top of the head and outwards.

Now we will take some Cutout on the parts.
Stand on Layer Head. Selections, Select all. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Deselect.

Stand on Layer Body. Selections, Select all. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Deselect.

This is what you will have so far.

Now to the wing.
New Layer. The same settings, but change color to #E5C73B.
Make a vertical ellipse 8 x 25. Image, Rotate right 30.

New Layer. Make a vertical  ellipse 7 x 16. Image, Rotate right 60. Place them like this.

New Layer. Make a  horizontal  ellipse 16 x 7. No not rotate. Place them like this.

New Layer. Make a  vertical  ellipse 5 x 11. Image, Rotate left 60.  Place them like this.

Close Layers Background, Body and Head. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Wing.
 Selections, Select all. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Deselect.

Now to the legs.
Stand on Layer Background. New Layer. Preset Shapes, Rectangle.
Fore- and Background color  #FC9D3F. Antialias checked. Make a vertical rectangle 3 x 15.
Place it under the body.

New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. The same colors. Make an ellipse 6 x 5. Put it on the leg.



New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. The same colors.
Make a horizontal ellipse 1 x 11. Image, Rotate, Left 70.

Duplicate in your Layers Palette. Image, Rotate Left 20.
Place the toe like this.

Duplicate. Drag the toe to your left like this.

Duplicate. Image, Rotate Right 60. Place the toe like this.

Close Layers Background, Body, Head and Wing.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Leg.
Selections, Select all. Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Deselect.

Duplicate and place the other leg a little higher up, like this.

Now to the beak.
Stand on Layer Head. New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse.
Color #B37E33 on both Fore- and Background. Make a circle 5 x 5.

New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse.  Foreground color #B37E33 and
on Background color #ECB260. Make a vertical ellipse 3 x 9.
Image, Rotate, Right 55. Place those two beakparts together like this.

New Layer. Airbrush 1. Color #896F4B. Make two nostrils on the beak.



Close all layers except the three beak layers. Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Beak.

Eyes.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Black color on both Fore- and Background.
Make the eye 4 x 4. Effects, Inner Bevel, Round.

Duplicate and put the eyes in place.

Close all layers except the two eyes layers. Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Eyes.

Stand on Layer Head. Magic Wand. Click at a corner of your Image.
Selections, Invert. New Layer. Airbrush2, color #F78E83. Make some red marks on both cheeks.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur 2,50. Deselect.

Close Layers Background and Wing. Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Body.

If you want your bird to hold something in his hands, copy and Paste it as a New Layer.
Place it under the wing.

Now your chicken is now ready for some fun.

Would you like him to hold an easter egg? You can do like this.
New Layer. Choose the color you like. The same on both Fore- and Background. I chose #5B87F5.
Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Make an ellipse 30 x 50. Selections, Select all.
Selections, Float. Effects, 3D, Cutout as below.

Keep it selected. New Layer. Airbrush 2, white color. Make a line slightly bent
on top of the egg and a little to your left.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur 2,50. Deselect. Close all layers except these two egg layers.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Egg.
Place the egg under the wing. Turn it with Deformation Tool so it won't  hide the face.

You can also duplicate the wing and turn it with Deformation tool, to give the chicken different looks.
