Butterfly.
Do you also like those lovely butterflies?
You can find them in lots of colors.
This one is made in blue, but you can choose any color you like.
Get my Selections
here and zip them up in
your PSP Selections folder.
I have also included the fillings in the zip.
The Gradient filling, lo_bflblue.jgd, you have to zip up in your PSP Gradient folder
and the four patterns, lo_pb1.bmp + lo_pb2.bmp + lo_pb2.bmp +
lo_glitter.bmp,
zip them up in your PSP Patterns folder.
Start with a New Image 400 x 400, transp,
16 mill.
New Layer. Call it Wing1. Selections, Load from disk, butterfly, wing1.sel.
Fill with the blue Gradient color added in the zip. Use these settings.
Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Rim1. Selections, Load from disk,
rim1.sel.
Fill with my glitter pattern, added in the zip. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Rim3. Selections, Load from disk,
rim3.sel.
Fill with my glitter pattern. Deselect.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Wing1.
New Layer. Call it Wing2. Selections, Load from disk, wing2.sel.
Fill with the same Gradient, but use these settings.
Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Rim2. Selections, Load from disk,
rim2.sel.
Fill with my glitter pattern. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Rim4. Selections, Load from disk, rim4.sel.
Fill with my glitter pattern. Deselect.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Leftside.
Duplicate. Call that Layer Rightside. Image, Mirror.
This is how it looks now.
New Layer. Call it Body1. Selections, Load from disk,
body1.sel.
Fill with color #885E5F. Selections, Modify, Contract by 2. Fill with my pattern
lo_pb1. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Body2. Selections, Load from disk,
body2.sel.
Fill with color #B9817B. Selections, Modify, Contract by 2. Fill with my pattern
lo_pb3. Deselect.
New Layer. Call it Head. Selections, Load from disk,
head.sel.
Fill with color #B9817B. Selections, Modify, Contract by 2. Fill with my pattern
lo_pb3. Deselect.
Close Layer Leftside and Rightside. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Body.
New Layer. Call it Antenna. Selections, Load from disk,
antenna.sel. Fill with black color. Use
Airbrush with a large size. Deselect. Drag this layer under Layer Body in your
Layer Palette.
Stand on Layer Body. New Layer. Call it
Face. Selections, Load from disk, face.sel.
Fill the eyes with black color, the nose with color #BF8971 and mouth with color
#EC574F.
Use Airbrush 2 and zoom the picture to see better.
New Layer. Call it Cheeks. Selections, Load from disk, cheeks.sel. Fill with color #E0838D. Deselect.
Layers Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Body.
New Layer. Call it Arm1. Selections, Load from disk,
arm.sel.
Fill with color #885E5F. Selections, Modify, Contract by 2. Fill with my pattern
lo_pb2. Deselect.
Duplicate. Call it Arm2. Image, Mirror.
So far so good.
Now we have to make the flowers.
Stand on Layer Arm2. New Layer. Call it
Flower. Foreground
color #4C51AA
and Background color #8383FF. Preset Shape, Flower.
Styles, Gradient on both Foreground and Background.
Make the flower 18 x 17.
New Layer. Color #FDDC43 on both Fore- and
Background.
Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Make a circle 4 x 4. Put it in the centre of the flower.
Close all layers except this layer and Layer
Flower.
Layers. Merge Merge Visible. Call the layer Flower.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, teardrop. Color
#3D8408 on both Fore- and Background-
Make the leaf 8 x 13. Drag this layer under Layer Flower in your Layer Palette.
Duplicate the leaf and use Deformation Tool and turn the leaves a bit.
Put them in place under the flower like this.
Close all layers
except Layer Flower and the two leaves layers.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Flower. Effects, Sharpen once.
Now you have to duplicate this flower three
times.
Close Layer Flower. You have to use it for the boquet.
Turn the other three flowers with Deformation Tool and put them together like this.
Close all layers except these three flower
layers.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Wreth.
Make all Layers visible again.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Fore- and Background, the same blue colors
you had on the flower.
Make a bud 4 x 4 and a bud 3 x 3 below the first one on the same layer.
Duplicate two times.
Stand on Layer Flower. Duplicat this layer
seven times. You will now have eight flowers and three buds.
Use Deformation Tool and turn the flowers a bit. Take Image, Mirror on some.
Place them like this.
Close all other layers except these flower
layers. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.
Call it Flowers. Effects, Sharpen once.
Make all layers visible. Stand o Layer Arm1. Layers, Arrange, Bring to top.
New Layer. Call it Hearts. Selections, Load from disk,
hearts.sel.
Fill with color #7181F9. Deselect.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.
That was all folks! Hope you liked what you did!
On the pink butterfly,
I have used different colors.
On the other one I have mirrored the left wing section and rotated it 90º
left + rotated the body.
Just go ahead and make your own choices.
