Baking santa-girl.

How to make this little baking santa-girl, I will show you here.
Some parts use Vectors.

Save often!

Start with a New Image, 300 x 400, transparent.

New Layer. Call it Leg1. Preset Shapes, Ellipse, grey color on both Fore- and Background.
Create as Vector checked. Make an ellipse 40 x 80.
Object Selector. Node Edit. Put some extra nodes like I did. Keep Ctrl down while you add the nodes.

Right click in your Layers Palett an Convert to Raster Layer.

New Raster Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse, size 2. Red color only on Foreground. Background closed.

Make a circle on the leg. Freehand Tool. Mark the part you will delete. Delete it.

Duplicate that Layer four times and put the stripes upwards on the leg.

 
Close Leg1 Layer. Merge Visible to all the Layers. Call it Stripes.
Stand on Leg 1. Selection Tool. Mark a rectangle around the leg. Click inside it.
 Selections, Invert. Stand on Layer Stripes. Delete. Then the stripes will look nice.
Merge Visible to all layers. Call it Leg 1.
Deformation Tool. Turn the leg just a bit.

Duplicate. Call it Leg 2. Image, Mirror. Put the leg in place.

Now to the skirt.

New Layer. Call it Skirt. Preset Shapes, Rounded Rectangle. Create as vector checked.
Green color on both Fore- and Background.
Make a rectangle 130 x 140.

Keep Ctrl down while you push the upper part in and the lower part out.
Object Selector. Node Edit. Put the nodes like I did. Keep Ctrl down while you add the nodes.

Right click in your Layers Palett an Convert to Raster Layer. Call it Skirt.
Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the skirt. Click inside it.
New Layer. Keep the "ants" dancing. Airbrush 3. Dark green color.
Make some color on the skirt like I did.

Blur, Gaussian Blur 6. Deselect.
Close Layer Leg1 and Leg 2. Merge visible. Call it Skirt.

New Layer. Call it Body. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Uncheck Create as vector.
Red color on both Fore- and Background. Make an ellipse  100 x 115.
Fill it with a pattern. I used Effects, Texture, Weave.

Drag Body Layer under Skirt Layer.

New Layer. Call it Baking-tray. Preset Shapes, Rectangle.
Dark grey color on both Fore- and Background. Make a rectangle 95 x 120.
Deformation Tool. Keep Ctrl down while you push the
upper part in and the lower part out.
Effects, Inner Bevel, Frame. Set the width to 6.

This is how it look now.

New Vector Layer. Call it Arm1. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Create as vector checked. Red color
on both fore- and Background. Make an ellipse 35 x 105.
Object Selector. Node Edit. Put the nodes like I did. Keep Ctrl down while you add the nodes.

Right click in your Layers Palett an Convert to Raster Layer.
Stand on Arm1 Layer. Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the arm. Click inside it.
New Layer. Dark red color. Make marks on the arm like I did.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur 6.

Close all layers except this layer and Arm1. Layers, Merge Visible. Call it Arm1.
New Vector Layer. Call it Hand. Preset Shapes, Ellipse.
Color #F5CAA7 on both Fore- and Background. Make an ellipse 25 x 55.
Object Selector. Node Edit. Put the nodes like I did. Keep Ctrl down while you add the nodes. 

Right click in your Layers Palett an Convert to Raster Layer. Call it Hand.
Drag Layer Hand under Layer Arm1. Close all other Layers except
Layer Hand and Layer Arm1. Layers, Merge Visible. Call it Arm1.
Selection Tool, Rectangle. Put a rectangle around the arm. Click inside it.
Effects, Cut out, with following settings.

Duplicate. Call it Arm 2. Image, Mirror. Put the arm in place.

New Layer. Call it Head. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Create as vector unchecked. Color
#F5DABF on both fore- and Background. Make a circle 83 x  83.

Selection Tool, Rectangle. Make a rectangle around the face. Click inside it. Keep
the ants dancing. New Layer. Airbrush 3. Red color. Make some red color on the cheeks.

Effects, Blur, Gaussian Blur 10. Deselect. MergVisible to that Layer and Head Layer.

Now to the face.

New Layer. Call it Eye. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Create as vector unchecked. Color
black on both fore- and Background. Make an ellipse 6 x  8. Effects, Inner Bevel, Round.
Duplicate and put the other eye in place.

New Layer. Call it Nose. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Color, a little darker than the skin color.
Make an ellipse 9 x 7.

New Layer. Call it Mouth. Preset Shapes, Crecent. Color red.
Make it 6 x 10. Image, Rotate 90 left. Put the mouth in place.

New Layer. Call it Eyebrow. Preset Shapes, Ellipse, Retain style.  Color black.
Make a small circle. Selection Tool, rectangle. Cut off the lower part of the circle.

Duplicate and put the other eyebrow in place.

She looks like this now.

Close Legs, Body, Skirt, Baking-tray, Arms Layers.
Merge Visible to the other Layers. Call it Head.

She must have a couple of ears also.
New Layer. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Color: a little darker than the face color.
Make an oval 8 x 22. Put it at the side of the head.
Duplicate and put it in place. Merge Visible to those two layers
together with Head Layer. Call it Head.

Right now she looks like this.

Now for her hair. Choose the color you like. I chose yellow.
New Layer. Draw, Single Line 8. Make a line on her forehead.

Effects, Geometric, Wave.

Eye Candy, Fur, Long and wavy.

Duplicate. Deformation Tool, Turn the hair the way you like.

New Layer. Call it Part1. Preset Shapes, Ellipse. Color: Foreground a little darker
than Background. Make it 8 x 15. Turn it a bit with Deformation Tool. Duplicate. Image, Mirror.
Put them together and Close all other Layers and Merge Visible to these two Layers.
Call it Part1.

Duplicate this layer several times and put them together in a long row.
Take resize on the ones at the ends. So they are a little smaller.

Make some lines at the end of the plait. Merge those Part1 Layers Call it Plait.

New Layer. Call it Bow. Take a color of your choice as Foreground. Close Background.
Draw, Bezier Curve, size 4.

Click first at 1 then at 2 and 3. There you have the loop. Duplicate. Image, Mirror.
Put the two loops together and make two single lines from the centre.

Merge Visible to the two Bow Layers. Call it Bow. Put it on the plait. Close all other Layers
except Plait1 and Bow. Merge Visible to them. Call it Plait1.
Duplicate. Image, Mirror and put the other plait in place. Call it Plait2.
Drag the Plaits Layers under Head Layer if you havn't done that already.

She looks like this now.

New Layer. Call it Ball. Preset Shapes, Ellipse.
Red color on both Fore- and Background. Make a circle 40 x 40 .

New Layer. Call it Cap1. Preset Shapes, Ellipse.
Red color on both Fore- and Background. Make an ellipse 100 x 85.
Drag Cap1 under Head Layer.
 

New Vector Layer. Call it Cap2. Preset Shapes, Ellipse.
Red color on both Fore- and Background. Make an ellipse 100 x 60.
Drag this Layer above Head Layer.
Object Selector. Node Edit. Put the nodes like I did. Keep Ctrl down while you add the nodes.

Right click in your Layers Palett an Convert to Raster Layer. 

Duplicate this Layer. Make it slightly smaller by using Deformation Tool.
You can form the cap-parts in different ways by using Deformation Tool.
Drag this layer a bit down. Effects, Texture, Blinds.

Close all Layers except Ball + Cap2 and copy of Cap2.
Merge Visible. Call it Cap2. Selection Tool, Rectangle. Put a rectangle around Cap2.
Click inside it. Effects, Cutout. The same as before.

Stand on Cap1. Selection Tool, Rectangle. Put a rectangle around Cap1.
Click inside it. Effects, Cutout. The same as before.

Layers, Merge Visible all Layers.

And now for some goodies, the cookies.

New Layer. Call it Cookies. Preset Shapes, Heart. Color brown on both Fore- and Background.
Make hearts all over the tray. Make them a little smaller for each row.
Everyone on separat Layer so you can move them around a little.
Close Layer Girl and Merge visible to the rest.
Selection Tool, Rectangle. Make a rectangle around the cookies. Click inside.
Effects, Cutout. The same settings as before.




At last you're finished. Can you smell the newly baked gingerbread? I can!
