Dicentra (Bleeding heart).

This flower, Bleeding heart, is a favourite of mine.

Hope you like my tutorial.  Remember, save often!

Start with a New Image 300 x 600, transparent. New Layer. Call it Stem.

Green colour on both Foreground and Background. I chose #4C4F33.
Airbrush 10. Make a stem something like this. .

I will keep the file size down by rezising the picture above.
But you will make it in the original size.
When you get to the ends, at the top of the stem, you have to use Airbrush 3.
Effects, 3D, Inner Bevel.

New Layer. Call it Leaf. Preset Shapes heart2.
You still have that green color on both Fore- and Background.

We are going to make an easy leaf.

Make a heart about 30 x 85.

Deformation tool. Keep Shift down while you pull the right node, marked with an arrow, upwards.

New Layer. Make another heart, the same size. Duplicate. Deformation tool.
Turn that heart a bit, like I did and put them together. Pull a little at the right node.

Close all other layers but these two. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.

Now you have two leaf parts. Let's make a third and a fourth one.
Make it the same way. You can push and drag the nodes as you like.

Turn the leaves with Deformation tool and put them together like this.
Airbrush 5. Connect the leaves with a stalk.

Close layer Stem. Layers, Merge, Merge visible to the rest. Call it Leaf1.

Selection Tool. Make a rectangle around the leaf. Click inside it.

New Layer. Airbrush 3. Use a lighter green color. I used #7C8254.

Follow the leaf like I did. Zoom the picture, so you can see better what you are doing.

Blur, Gaussian Blur 6. Deselect. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Leaf1.

Now you have to make another 5 leaves in the same way.
On some, you can Duplicate and take Image, Mirror and Image, Flip.
You can also use different green colors if you like.
That will give them a little different look. Place them like this.

Effects, Sharpen once on each Leaf layer.
Close layer Stem. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Leaves.

Now to the flower.

New Layer. Call it Flower. Preset Shapes, Heart1.

Foreground color, solid, #EA5A73. Background color #F6A8C1, gradient.

Sunburst gradient. Use the Edit button and make these settings.

Make a heart 77 x 90. Freehand Tool, freehand, antialias checked.

Mark on the heart like I did. Delete. Deselect.
Zoom your picture and make marks like the picture, with Airbrush 3 and Foreground color.

Effects, Noise, Add 7 %, uniform.

New Layer. Call it Drop.

Foreground color #FFF9F8. Background #FFD7C5. Preset Shapes, teardrop. Background Gradient.

Edit button with these settings.

Make a drop 20 x 60.  Selection Tool, rectangle. Mark the middle of the drop.

Effects, Geometric Effects, Wave.

Deselect. You can change settings on some flowers, to make a little difference.
Drag Drop Layer under Flower Layer in your Layer Palette.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible to those two layers. Call it Flower.
Selection Tool, Rectangle. Make a rectangle around the flower. Click inside it.

New Layer. Call it Shadow. Make some marks with color #AB4B59.

Blur, Gaussian Blur 3. Deselect. Close layer Stem and Leaves.
Layers, Merge, Merge Visible. Call it Flower.

This is one flower. Now you have to make another 6 the same way.
But you can make them a little different from each other
by making the drop a little wider or narrower.
The flowers are getting smaller, as they are getting nearer the tip of the branch.
At the ends you must have small buds. Like this.

Make all layers Visible. Deformation Tool and turn the flowers
in position, one by one. Like this.

New Layer. Call it Stalks. Now you have to attatch the flowers to the stem
by making green stalks, from each flower to the stem. Make them slightly bent.

Make sure your Flower layers are on Top in your Layer Palette. Layers, Merge, Merge Visible.
Effects, Sharpen once.

Now you have done a good work! Your flower is finished.

Resize after your choice.
